Far out Friday: Disney surprise for adored employee
One worker’s heart-warming reaction was caught on camera as she was given the surprise of her life.

One much-loved campus employee has been given the surprise of her life by charitable students – and the heart-warming moment has been caught on camera.

Proud grandmother Kathryn Thompson is a ten-year veteran employee at Elon University campus – one night, the coffee shop worker was talking to students Taylor Zisholtz and Lucy Smith-Williams when she learned the latter was a native Floridian.

Confiding in the young women, Thompson said her life-long dream was to take her autistic son to Disney World – less than a month later and that dream is now a reality.

Keen to reward long-time employee for her efforts, junior Zisholtz and freshman Smith-Williams started a Gofundme page with a goal to raise $6,500 but the pair raised an incredible $9,481 in just 29 days.

“All of Elon community came together and we just wanted to thank you for all that you do,” said Smith-Williams, upon revealing the surprise.
