Accident causes on-site fatality

A construction worker died this morning after an accident occurred while working on the completion of tunnelling works at Lentor MRT station.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has called a “safety timeout” to review work processes.

The worker was employed to dismantle components of tunnel boring machines. He fell from a raised platform in the tunnel he was working at and was unconscious after the fall, reported Channel NewsAsia.

LTA said it is “deeply saddened by the incident and is working with the employer to assist the worker’s family.

Investigations are ongoing.
