Breaking news: Continuing transport delays major disruption to workplaces

A power trip that led to the shutdown of the entire train network over the weekend meant that employees across Singapore were late for work on Monday morning.

The cause of the power trip that led to the shutdown of the entire train network yesterday has not been found, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said today.

Engineers are currently conducting further investigations, with train services suspended or running at reduced speeds throughout the day.

Services on the North-South Line will be suspended from 11am to 4pm. Service on the East-West Line will continue to operate throughout the day but at reduced speed, "as a matter of precaution and safety", LTA said.

Free bus services will be available from designated bus stops and bus interchanges close to NSEWL stations, with up to 100 buses deployed to ply the affected routes along train routes.

The status of train services on these two lines can be checked via the SMRT and the Land Transport Authority’s websites and social media pages, as well as the MyTransport.sg app.
