MOM wants firms to prep staff for terror attacks

The Ministry of Manpower wants at least 3,000 firms to be SGSecure-ready by 2020, said Second Minister for Manpower Josephine Teo.

The Singapore government will help businesses in five priority sectors – food and beverage, retail, entertainment, hotel and transport -- prepare their staff for terror attacks.

Industry associations are set to receive between $25,000 and $55,000 for the first year to develop risk-management capabilities under the bizSAFE programme, reported The Business Times.

They will also undertake SGSecure seminars and simulation exercises.

"I am pleased to share that in the short few months since the launch in September last year, about 2,100 companies have come onboard the new enhanced bizSAFE programme," Teo said.

bizSAFE is a five-step programme that assists companies to build up their workplace safety and health capabilities to improve in safety and health standards at the workplace.
